Volunteer & Coach

Coach with OMGS

Our coaches are volunteers, and we could not do this without you.

• Head coaches, assistant coaches, and anyone helping on the field must complete an online coaching application before the first game.
• The head coach and one assistant must complete a background check release (through D1 Prospects).
• Head and assistant coaches must be at least 21, unless the Board grants an exception.
• Coach agreement: by applying, coaches agree to model good sportsmanship, follow D1 Prospects and OMGS rules, treat all players and parents fairly and with respect, follow the All-Star selection process, and stand by Board decisions. Coaches may not attend practices, games, or team activities under the influence of alcohol or drugs, may not use them during any team activity, and may not smoke in the dugout or on the field.
• OMGS requires an adult female, 21 or older, whether she's a coach, team mom, or parent, to be present at every practice, game, and team activity.
• All coaches complete an online Child Safety Training class before coaching.
• Coaches and assistants attend the mandatory coaches meeting and clinic in March and help at the pitching and players clinics.
• A coach's daughter must be listed as a coach pick for the coach to be selected.

BBQ assignments

BBQ assignments: each team is required to cover one 2-hour BBQ shift during the season. In both Spring and Fall, if a team does not cover its BBQ shift, the team forfeits its next game.

Other ways to help

• Team parent
• Scorekeeper (GameChanger). The parent meeting is highly recommended for scorekeeping training.
• Centennial Park clean-up day
• Board service. When a seat opens, OMGS posts it and interviews applicants.
